Our Story
Stable Minds began with a rainbow umbrella and a bench in the park.
In the middle of lockdown, our founder Milly sat on The Moor in Knutsford with nothing but an open heart and a quiet offer to listen. No signs. No forms. Just a space for people to sit and be heard. What started as one simple act of kindness quickly became something more. A connection. A movement. A safe space.

That moment planted the seed for Stable Minds. A community-led service built for people who were falling through the gaps. People who were waiting too long. People who were tired of being bounced from one service to another. People who just needed someone to really listen.

We created Stable Minds CIC to support adults with their mental health in a way that feels real, kind and accessible. No complicated systems. No judgement. Just good people, doing their best to help.

We now support over a thousand people a year across Cheshire and Greater Manchester. We offer one to one counselling, walk and talk therapy, group support and community workshops. Our free mental health drop-in runs every weekday morning in the centre of Knutsford. No appointment needed. Just come in, grab a brew and let us know what you need.

Our team is made up of qualified psychotherapists, counsellors and volunteers. Many of us have lived experience of trauma, loss or mental health challenges. We bring warmth, honesty and care to every conversation.

We are proud to be part of the community. Every part of what we do has been shaped by the people who use our service. That is what makes it work. That is what makes it feel different.

Stable Minds exists because nobody should have to struggle alone. We are here for the moments when life feels heavy and you just need someone on your side.
